Shah Alam: Thailand earned their fourth SEA Games men’s futsal goal medal after edging Malaysia 4-3, while Myanmar secured their first win after a 3-2 victory over Indonesia in the Kuala Lumpur 2017 SEA Games men’s futsal at the Panasonic Sports Complex on Sunday.

Following their 5-0 win over Indonesia, the host nation knew even a draw would be enough to crown them champions, while Thailand needed a win to retain the title.

It didn’t take long for Thailand to open the scoring, through Kristada Wongkeao in the fourth minute.

Playmaker Suphawut Thueanklang furthered their advantage in the 11th minute.

Two minutes from half-time, Apiwat Charoen gave Jose Maria Pazoz Mendez’s side a comfortable lead.

Syed Aizad reduced the deficit in the 24th minute, before Suphawut scored his second of the match four minutes later.

Goals from Yazid Kamaruzuan and Syed Aizad in the 28th and 32nd minutes did bring Malaysia closer, but they will rue their missed chances.

Malaysia took the silver and Vietnam claimed the  bronze.

Myanmar came from behind to beat Indonesia 3-2 in the last minute with Nainh Ye Kyaw’s shot on target.

On the back of a 10-2 loss to Thailand on Matchday Four, Myanmar fought for pride and to gain their first win of the tournament, while Indonesia needed at least 11 clear goals for a chance at bronze.

It was Indonesia’s Tricahyo Ramadhan who broke the deadlock in the ninth minute.

Myanmar pushed back in the second-half, taking control of the pace and ball possession, and found their equaliser through Ye Kyaw’s close range strike five minutes after the break.

Ardiansyah regained the lead for Yori Van der Torren’s side in the 33rd minute, but Nyein Min Soe levelled the tie just four minutes.

Myanmar’s power play tactics paid off with Ye Kyaw’s goal in the final minute.
