Jeddah: Brazilian midfielder Carlos Eduardo’s late strike proved to be the difference as Al Hilal beat domestic rivals Al Ahli to secure Saudi Arabia’s King’s Cup title on Friday.

On a night of high drama, Syrian striker Omar Kharbin handed domestic champions Al Hilal a 28th minute lead, before Motaz Hawsawi levelled matters shortly before half-time.

However, further goals from Mohammad Jahfali and the irrepressible Eduardo duly sealed an eighth King’s Cup success for Al Hilal despite Omar Al Souma’s penalty for Al Ahli in the game’s final moments.

The two sides will both be in AFC Champions League Round of 16 first leg action this week, with Al Hilal travelling to Oman to play Esteghlal Khouzestan, and Al Ahli hosting their namesakes from the United Arab Emirates in Jeddah.
