Amman: Abdullah Mesfer has been appointed head coach of the Jordan national team.

Al Mesfer, who was in charge of the United Arab Emirates national side from 2011 until 2012, is set to help  the Jordanians in their campaign to qualify for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019.

Jordan will begin their third qualifying round campaign on March 28, 2017.

Mesfer said: “I have been following Jordan football since the national team was under Egyptian Mahmoud Al Johari.

"I will do everything for the team, and I hope I get the support from the clubs and media.”

The Emirati coach added that he believes the ongoing Jordan Premier League will help give him a head start.

“I understand the responsibility I have, and having league matches will help me in my work before the start of Asian Cup qualifiers.”
