Piraeus: Islamic Republic of Iran international Karim Ansarifard has completed a move to Greek giants Olympiakos ahead of the continuation of his nation’s qualifying campaign for the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018.

The 26-year-old joins the Superleague Greece champions after a two-year stint with fellow Greek side Panionios, where he scored 14 goals in 44 appearances. He had previously been in Spain with Osasuna.

Ansarifard began his playing career with Iranian side Saipa in 2007, before making a move to Persepolis five years later. He subsequently transferred to Tractorsazi in 2013.

With 14 international goals in 54 appearances for his country, the Ardabil-born forward is set to don his national colours once again when Iran play China on March 28 in their quest to qualify for Russia 2018.

The Iranians currently top Group A of the third round of qualifying with 11 points from five games.
