Hong Kong: Liverpool lifted the Premier League Asia Trophy with a 2-1 win over Leicester City at the Hong Kong Stadium on Saturday.

Islam Slimani gave Leicester the lead in the 12th minute courtesy of Christian Fuch’s cross into the box, but Leicester’s joy was shortlived as Mohamed Salah found the equaliser just eight minutes later.

Marc Albrighton’s effort in the 32nd minute nearly gave the Foxes the advantage again but his shot whizzed just past the post.

A minute before the break, Philippe Coutinho’s shot found the back of the net, handing Jurgen Klopp’s side the advantage going into the second half.

Leicester had a few opportunities at the restart but solid defending from the Reds denied them a comeback and the Premier League Asia Trophy was Liverpool’s.

In the Third Place Play-off, Crystal Palace beat West Bromwich Albion 2-0.

Luka Milivojevic opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a free-kick from just outside the penalty area.

Bakary Sako’s goal two minutes before the break doubled Palace’s advantage and the London side held on to claim third place.
