Manila: An AFC Futsal Development team has recently concluded its assessment visit to the Philippines.

The three-day assignment was aimed at develop the sport in the ASEAN country and the team was warmly received by Atty. Edwin B. Gastanes, General Secretary of the Philippine Football Federation (PFF).

“This futsal assessment visit is really needed as it will help the PFF find a new direction to promote the game and futsal also plays an important part in football development,” said Gastanes.

"Futsal is a new sport in Asia and it has been growing in the past 15 years. Most importantly is the direction of the PFF towards the development of futsal in this country and we are willing to work closely with the AFC Futsal and Beach Soccer Development team.”

Ali Targholizade, Head of AFC Futsal and Beach Soccer Development, said: “Futsal is the key to creating talented and skilful players for football. Some countries are good at football because of futsal and some countries maybe can’t achieve in football but can do so in futsal. I’d like to thank the PFF for their full cooperation and hospitality given.”

The AFC team conducted various meetings, field visits and inspections during the assessment visit.
