Amman: An Asian Football Confederation (AFC) delegation has concluded a successful visit to the Jordan Football Association (JFA) as part of the AFC’s Futsal Development Programme.

JFA General Secretary Sizar Soubar (pictured right), who welcomed the AFC officials, said: “The JFA is aiming to raise the standard of futsal in the country and we are working closely with the AFC as this is a high priority for us.’

He identified coach education as playing an important role in helping raise the standards of the players, with Jordan aiming to catch up with the top futsal countries in Asia. 

Ali Targholizade (pictured left), Head of the AFC Futsal & Beach Soccer Development, presented the overview of futsal activities in Asia and added: “Futsal is now being used as an important tool for the development of football.’

He also mentioned that Jordan are one of the stronger teams in the West Asia which was demonstrated when they qualified for the 2016 AFC Futsal Championship, held in Uzbekistan. 

"The AFC will assist the JFA in all areas to make this young sport more successful in this country," Mr Targholizade concluded. Present in the meeting were the JFA's Technical Director, the Futsal National coach, and referees.
