SHAH ALAM - Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Sultan Ahmad Shah confirmed on Wednesday that B. Sathianathan has been appointed the new coach of the Malaysian national team.
The former under-23s coach replaces Norizan Bakar, whose tenure came to an end after the AFC Asian Cup in July.
Sathianathan led Malaysia to victory in the Merdedka Tournament on Wednesday after they defeated Myanmar 3-1.
"Sathia will remain as the coach because the boys seem to like him, they went all out in the game and they truly deserved to win," Sultan Ahmad Shah said on the FAM's official website.
"For the upcoming FAM Congress, I hope that they will make sure that the right people will be put at the right place."
