ADELAIDE: Meeting on the sidelines of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, Australia 2006, the AFC Women’s Committee today stressed the importance of more commitment and dedication to the women’s game within individual countries. Bin Hammam also went on to stress the importance of the AFC Women’s Committee and the role they play in developing women’s football in Asia. “The people sitting on this committee provide the example. But this must be reflected within each Member Association.E The committee approved that unless there is a women’s committee in member associations, and women’s competitions are taking place at the domestic level, then these countries will not be invited to participate in AFC women’s competitions.
Also, in his opening address, Bin Hammam praised the local government of South Australia in helping AFC and the Football Federation of Australia host this competition, “Without their help and support it would have been difficult to organise such a successful competition. On behalf of the Committee I send my thanks to them.E
