KUCHING: A brace from Roman Kornilov helped Kyrgyzstan’s Dordoi-Dynamo cruise to an effortless 3-0 win over Khemara in the first semi-final of the AFC President's Cup here on Wednesday. The three goals did little justice to the efforts of the Cambodian side which ran tirelessly the entire match. They had one clear chance though in the first half. But Buntheang Sok chose to cross the ball when he could have tested the goalkeeper, Vladislav Volkov. That cross came to nothing. Then came Kornilov's first goal in the 33rd minute with Azamat Ishenbaev adding a second before half-time. Despite trailing by two goals, Khemara showed excellent fighting spirit but Dordoi's superiority was too evident. Kornilov made it 3-0 in the 75th minute. "For us, this match was a learning curve. We have never had any experience playing against teams like this," said Khemara coach Jo Yong-Chol. "They were tactically better. But to start with, we were physically not up to their mark." After having watched all the teams, Jo predicted Dordoi will return home with the title and the US$50,000 champion's purse. Dordoi coach Boris Podkorytov complimented the opponents. He said despite trailing, the Cambodians never gave up the fight. "They had actually made it tough for us. Most teams would have given up after the three goals but not this team," said Podkorytov. "We were, in a sense, quite ready for them. We knew they had the pace and we knew we had to contain that. Our tactics were mostly about that, and we were able to do the job." Dordoi will take on the winner of the second semifinal between Vakhsh of Tajikistan and Tatung of Chinese Taipei on Thursday.
