SINGAPORE – S-League leaders Singapore Armed Forces moved six points clear of fellow AFC Cup 2008 quarter-finalists Home United with a 2-0 win over the Young Lions on Thursday.
Aleksandar Duric opened the scoring with just three minutes played but the Warriors had to wait until the very end for the goal that would give them some breathing space with Duric’s Singapore international team-mate Ashrin Shariff grabbing the second in the 90th minute.
With 19 matches of the 2008 S-League season played SAF sit at the top of the standings having lost just once and drawn twice to have amassed a half-century of points.
Home United are six behind the defending champions with 44 points, the same tally as the Super Reds but with a vastly superior goal difference to the Korean side.
