KUALA LUMPUR: Oman has started preparations for the launch of Vision Oman project by starting academies in 25 out of 42 clubs recently.
Oman Football Association General Secretary Taha Al Kishry told www.the-afc.com that a festival of football, on the lines of AFC Festivals of Football, will also be organised for the trainees of these academies by the end of this year.
“We will select the team for the next year’s AFC U-13 Festival of Football from our festival,” he said. “We have also trained 25 coaches and the same number of administrators for the clubs.”
Al Kishry praised AFC’s Vision Asia project saying it will help in the development of grassroots and youth football across the continent.
“We have taken a lot of positives from the Vision Asia principles. It will help us set up a systematic development plan not only for players but also for coaches and referees,” he added.
“We are getting a lot of support from the AFC Vision Asia team and we are planning to host some of the courses this year but 2009 will be the year of Vision Oman for our country.”
