| Narrow wins for Gombak, Tampines |
SINGAPORE – Gombak United and Tampines Rovers both recorded 1-0 win in the latest round of S-League matches on Tuesday, defeating Dalian Shide Siwu and Geyland United respectively.
Emmanuel Emuejeraye put Gombak one-up with just two minutes of the round 19 clash at the Jurong West Stadium gone and with neither side able to alter the scoreboard the Nigerian’s early strike was enough to give the Bulls their fifth win of the campaign.
In the other match played on Tuesday, Tampines Rovers also picked up three points thanks to an early goal with Shahdan Sulaiman’s ninth minute goal giving the Stags the victory over the 2004 AFC Cup semi-finalists.
Tampines’ win took their points tally to 38, three behind third-place Home United who themselves are six adrift of league leaders and fellow AFC Cup 2008 quarter-finalists Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).
Super Reds are in second place with 44 points but have played a game more than both SAF and Home.
