TASHKENT – Kuruvchi booked their ticket to the last four of the Uzbekistan Cup after a 1-0 quarter-final second-leg win over Dinamo Samarkand on Tuesday gave them a 2-0 aggregate victory.
Kuruvchi went into Tuesday’s match with a one goal advantage thanks to Jose Luis Villanueva’s first-leg winner and their place in semis was sealed in the 17th minute of the clash at the CSKA Stadium through Azizbek Khydarov.
Last season’s Uzbekistan Cup runners-up will play the first-leg of their 2008 semi-final against surprise package AGMK on Sunday.
The Almalyk-based team, who are currently 11th in the Uzbekistan league standings, overturned a 2-1 first-leg deficit to defeat Mashal 4-3 on aggregate to earn their place in the final four of the cup.
The other semi-final sees Tashkent giants Pakhtakor continue their quest for an eighth successive Uzbekistan Cup title when they take on two-time winners Neftchi.
