KUALA LUMPUR: A six-day AFC Project Future Referees’ Refresher Course will be held in Hyderabad from July 27 to August 1 in conjunction with the AFC Challenge Cup 2008.
The southern Indian city hosts the eight-nation tournament from July 30 to August 10.
AFC Elite Instructor and two-time former AFC Referee of the Year Shamsul Maidin, who officiated in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, will be the course instructor while AFC Project Future Group Manager George Cumming will be the course coordinator.
Twenty-six participants from 16 countries (Australia, Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Singapore, Thailand and Uzbekistan) will take part in this course.
Project Future is a long-term coaching and refereeing development programme aimed at providing opportunities to young potential referees to help fulfil their potential and produce elite referees in the future.
The course will also provide the participants a chance to share experience with referees officiating in the AFC Challenge Cup during the pre-and post-match preparation periods and see them in action during the tournament.
The participants will be given tailor-made modern information while exclusively-designed practical sessions will further enhance the application of the laws of the game.
