MUSCAT: Al Nahda, who are in the running for a place in the AFC Cup 2008 knock-out stage, pulled off a late morale-boosting win 1-0 over Al Khaboora in the Oman League’s penultimate round on Sunday night.

 

Hamad Al Azzani’s men face Yemen’s Shab Hadramawt in the final AFC Cup group encounter on May 14 with a win boosting their chances of qualification for the last eight and, thanks to Arif Al Shaiba’s 84^th minute winner against Al Khaboora, will be able to approach the crunch continental game with confidence.

 

Al Shaiba’s strike six minutes from time gave Al Najma only their seventh win this season and they are currently in seventh position with 28 points. The title was clinched in mid-April by Al Oruba who are currently on 42 points, five ahead of Dhofar.
