MUSCAT: A solitary goal by Hani Al Dhabit helped Oman beat Liberia 1-0 in a friendly at the ROP Stadium here on Thursday.
The West Asians have chalked out a hectic programme ahead of their 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Japan on June 2.
Playing sans many of their key players, including Bolton Wanderers custodian Ali Al Habsi, Oman gave their Uruguayan coach Julio Cesar Ribas a winning start to their preparations.
The hosts struggled to penetrate the Liberian defence initially but slowly took command as Al Dhabit netted their only goal just before the break.
Omanis are scheduled to play Kyrgyzstan on at the ROP Stadium on Sunday and will then host Yemen at the same venue on May 3. They will travel to Syria for a friendly on May 10 and play Turkmenistan at home on May 18 before heading for Korea Republic for a 10-day camp.
Oman lost to Bahrain 1-0 in the opener before defeating Thailand by the same scoreline in the second match to lie in third place with three points in Group 2 behind Bahrain (six points) and Japan (three points). Thailand, who are yet to open their account, are last in the group.
