| Socceroos schedule Ghana friendly |
 |
| Australia fans will be hoping to see their team round off their campaign with a win against China on Sunday. |
SYDNEY – Australia will prepare for June’s 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a friendly match against Ghana on May 23, the Football Federation of Australia (FFA) has announced.
Pim Verbeek’s side will take on the four-time Africa Cup of Nations champions at the Sydney Football Stadium in a match that will provide the Socceroos with a tough warm-up going into the remainder of their World Cup qualifying Group 1 campaign.
“Ghana is one of the top 20 nations in the World and will provide us with ideal preparation ahead of the four vital World Cup qualifiers to follow,” FFA CEO Ben Buckley said of the forthcoming clash with the Black Stars.
Australia’s next game on the road to South Africa is schedule for June 1, when they take on AFC Asian Cup holders Iraq in Brisbane.
The Socceroos are currently setting the pace in Group 1 following their 3-0 win over AFC Asian Cup 2011 hosts Qatar and their goalless draw with China.
