KUALA LUMPUR – The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has approved Pakhtakor’s request to play their home matches in the 2008 AFC Champions League at the Army Stadium as their own ground is being upgraded for Uzbekistan’s hosting of the AFC U-16 Championship.
The AFC has, however, stipulated that if the floodlights at the Army Stadium do not meet the 1200 Lux required under tournament regulations then their matches will have to kick-off in the afternoon.
AFC Champions League ever-presents Pakhtakor have been drawn in Group D of this year’s edition of Asia’s premier club competition along with Qatar league leaders Al Gharafa; Iraq champions Arbil; and Al Qadisiya of Kuwait.
