ZURICH – Defender Khaldoun Ibrahim will miss Iraq’s last Group A match of the AFC Final Round qualifiers for the 2008 Beijing Olympics against Lebanon on Wednesday.
FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee confirmed on Tuesday that Khaldoun, who was part of Iraq’s 2007 AFC Asian Cup winning squad, will be suspended for the game in Doha after he picked up his second yellow card of the tournament in Iraq’s 2-0 defeat by Australia last Saturday.
Meanwhile, Syria’s Hamzeh Al Aitone has been suspended for the West Asians’ final Group C match against Uzbekistan in Damascus on Wednesday.
FIFA have stated that Al Aitone is facing disciplinary procedures following comments he made to the match officials after last Saturday's 1-1 draw with Bahrain.
