Manama: The Bahrain Football Association (BFA) started its first-ever AFC Professional Football Coaching Diploma Course in capital city Manama.

Twenty-two coaches are going through the demanding course that includes practical and theoretical sessions. The Pro Diploma course is for coaches who hold the ‘A’ Coaching Certificate as a minimum requirement, designed to teach the highest standards of coaching for clubs and national teams, and also aims to identify future instructors.

BFA Vice-President for Technical Affairs Ali Al Buainain inaugurated the course. Technical Operations Manager and course director Aabed Al Ansari was also present during the opening ceremony.

Conducted by German FIFA Instructor Erich Rutemöller with the assistance of his Bahraini counterpart Fahad Al Mukhareq and fitness instructor Tariq Al Banay from Kuwait, the ongoing course will run until February 23 and is the first of four parts. The remaining three components of the course will take place across March, April, September, October, November and December this year.
