Kuala Lumpur: Asian Football Confederation President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, will be visiting India, Bhutan and Nepal beginning Friday.

Shaikh Salman begins his tour by visiting the Indian capital of New Delhi, where he will attend Friday's FIFA U-17 World Cup 2018 India opening ceremony.

The AFC President will also watch the tournament's opening match between India and the United States.

Shaikh Salman said hosting the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2018 in India is a historical event and will be a remarkable milestone for Indian football.

The AFC President expressed his confidence that India will host a successful event, looking at the great human resource and infrastructure capabilities in the country, and the great desire to raise the popularity of the game in India.

Shaikh Salman will visit Bhutan and Nepal next week to meet football's stakeholders in the two countries to discuss further enhancing the AFC's relationship with both national bodies.

The AFC President said he is looking forward to his visits, stressing that the tour is part of efforts to maintain communication channels with all Member Associations in Asia, to identify the challenges they face in developing the game and discuss cooperation to serve the AFC's Vision and Mission under the One Asia, One Goal sentiment.
