Kuala Lumpur: Bluewave Chonburi lifted the AFC Futsal Club Championship Vietnam 2017 title on Sunday after defeating Sanaye Giti Pasand 3-2 in a closely fought final at the Phu Thọ Indoor Stadium in Ho Chi Minh.

AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa said: “I would like to congratulate Bluewave Chonburi for their breathtaking performances and consistency throughout the competition. Sanaye Giti Pasand also deserve praise for their determination in this riveting final.

“At the heart of every championship winning team, you will find a dedicated group of people working diligently behind the scenes. My heartfelt congratulations go also to everyone in the delegation and the Football Association of Thailand.”

Shaikh Salman also commended the Local Organising Committee for hosting a highly-impressive competition both off and on the court.

“Futsal in Asia has made significant strides in recent years, our teams today stand proud amongst the world’s best. The AFC Futsal Club Championship reinforces the passion that exists in the continent and underlines our Vision to improve the popularity of our game.

“I would like to express my appreciation to the Vietnam Football Federation and the Local Organising Committee for their commitment and hard work in delivering an outstanding and successful competition.”

The championship was also a resounding success on social media, surpassing the highly-successful championship in Thailand last year in every online platform.

After 11 days of high-intensity, captivating action at the Phu Thọ Indoor Stadium, the AFC’s Twitter account reached a competition record 1,093,874 impressions while the AFC’s Instagram received 1,654,900 impressions.

The AFC’s Facebook account also reached an all-time high with 1,744,454 impressions. The championship also contributed extensively to the 1,629,855 minutes of action viewed on the AFC Hub YouTube channel this month.
