Johor Baru: Hazwan Bakri's second-half winner helped Malaysia's Johor Darul Ta'zim overcome Ceres Negros of the Philippines 3-2 in the first leg of the AFC Cup ASEAN Zonal Semi-final on Wednesday.

In an end-to-end clash at Stadium Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Yunos, Gonzalo Cabrera fired the hosts in front on 18 minutes, before Spanish duo Fernando Rodriguez and Bienvenido Maranon scored in quick succession for the visitors soon after.

But 2015 AFC Cup winners Johor leveled a minute before the interval when midfielder Safiq Rahim headed home a Fazly Mazlan cross and then the home side completed the turnaround midway through the second half as Bakri's left-footed effort found the bottom corner for what would prove the tie's decisive goal.

The teams will face off once more in the second leg in Bacolod City in two weeks' time for the right to take on either Global FC of the Philippines or Singapore's Home United in the ASEAN Zonal Final.
