Kuala Lumpur: The 25th AFC Congress Concluded with newly-elected AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa to work towards building stronger Member Associations, who he labels the ‘strength’ behind Asian football.

“I am very happy that we have concluded two historic days of our Congress in a democratic and transparent manner, and the credit of this harmonious show goes fully to you – the pillars of Asian football,” said Shaikh Salman, who was elected as the tenth AFC President with an overwhelming majority at the vote during Thursday’s Extraordinary Congress.
“You, the Member Associations, are our strength and it is my endeavour to see that this foundation becomes stronger in the days to come.
“Our Member Associations are investing a lot of resources into developing the game but there are countries who need expert assistance. Under my presidency, I will make sure that this happens. This is the only way we can increase the level playing field in Asia.”
